The Treasure Island Music Festival is right around the corner, and tickets are already going fast. After all, this Oakland music festivals is making a return after a year hiatus that resulted from its relocation from Treasure Island to Oakland, so Bay Area locals are especially hungry for its return. There may be other San Francisco music festivals this Fall, but none of them can compare to the Treasure Island Music Festival. If you are not convinced, just check out this list of must-hear bands set to perform this year.

1. Tame Impala
This Australian band offers a unique brand of psychedelic rock. The band may borrow sounds from the 1960s and 1970s, but their show is always a polished, modern extravaganza for the senses.

2. ASAP Rocky
ASAP Rocky is also known as Rakim Mayers, who is also a part of the group ASAP Mob. However, he is currently touring on his own right now, sharing his latest album of rap and hip-hop with the world.

3. Silk City
Silk City is the collaboration of Mark Ronson and Diplo, and the duo has been getting some serious playing time lately. The group performed at the Governors Ball in New York City alongside some pretty big names. The group is sure to be popular at the festival this year.

4. Jungle
For something a little more offbeat, be sure to stop by to see Jungle. This English group classifies itself as a modern soul musical collective. Jungle is especially known for its ability to create a dynamic live performance by mixing distinctive elements into their music like wildlife noises, psychedelic flourishes, and vocally trained yelps.

5. Santigold
This singer is also known as Santi White, and she has a strong vocal range and a variety of influences. She blends all of these features together to make her music resonate. Although she is often compared to M.I.A., Santigold strives to defy genre definitions for a sound all her own.

6. JpegMafia
JpegMafia can be considered a hipster rapper, and although he is still relatively new to the music scene, his work has received widespread acclaim. He may work in hip-hop, but he also enjoys adding experimental elements to his music for added distinction.

7. Laff Trax
This is another collaboration to hit the stage this year, but this one features Nosaj Thing and Toro y Moi. Laff Trax is sure to be one of the most attended performances of the festival this year because Toro y Moi is local to Oakland.

This list of bands is just a taste of the bands to be featured this year. Check out the festival website for a full list of performances and start planning your weekend today.
