Stern Grove Festival Announces Star-Studded Lineup for 87th Season Featuring Chaka Khan, Sylvan Esso, Commodores, Herbie Hancock, Lucinda Williams and More!

The Stern Grove Festival, America’s longest-running free music festival, is back for its 87th season at Sigmund Stern Grove, starting June 23. Expect an electrifying lineup featuring Chaka Khan, Sylvan Esso, Alex G, Chicano Batman, Commodores, Drama, Franc Moody, Herbie Hancock, Lucinda Williams, Masego, Poolside, Tegan and Sara, and the SF Symphony, along with local talents like Poolside, SFJAZZ Collective, Satya, The Grease Traps, King Isis, and Fake Fruit.

This year, the festival’s annual fundraiser, The Big Picnic Weekend, expands to two days, with performances by Poolside and Sylvan Esso on August 24th, followed by Chaka Khan on August 25th, marking her 50th anniversary in music. The Saturday concert reflects SGF’s commitment to community access, accommodating an additional 10,000 attendees.

Since its inception in 1938, Stern Grove Festival has welcomed over 5 million visitors, honoring Rosalie Meyer Stern’s vision of a vibrant cultural space. Led by fifth-generation twins Matthew and Jason Goldman, the festival continues to enrich San Francisco’s music scene with diverse programming. Join the celebration from June 23rd to August 25th for an unforgettable summer of music in the Sunset District.
