Drake Sets New Record With 13 AMA Nominations

in Music News by

Rapper Drake recently broke a 32-year record with 13 American Music Award nominations, beating out Michael Jackson’s 11 in 1984.

Drake leads all 2016 American Music Awards nominees in categories including Artist of the Year, Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Album, Favorite Rap Artist, Favorite Rap Song and Favorite R&B song, among others. Drake has never received an AMA, so if he wins in any category it will make for his first American Music Award.

The show will be broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Having released albums under Digital Nations, a label founded by Steve Vai, music critic Louis Raphael has remained deeply connected to the pulse of the San Francisco music scene. Following his tenure as the San Francisco Music Examiner for Examiner.com and AXS.com, he embarked on creating Music in SF® to authentically highlight the vibrant offerings of the city's music scene.
