Sade releases a new original song entitled “The Big Unknown” from academy award-winning British director Steve McQueen’s latest film, Widows.
It’s is a feature-length adaptation of the UK television series of the same name, which opened in theatres across the UK on Nov. 6, 2018.
Sade wrote, “The Big Unknown” specifically for Widows’ final scene. According to a press release that went out, over a series of conversations with Sade, Steve McQueen encouraged her to dig deep within to write a song about loss and survival.
In a recent Los Angeles Times interview, McQueen was quoted: “It was an honor to work with such a legend. Sade is an incomparable talent and incredible artist who so rarely releases new material, but luckily the original series of Widows had deeply resonated with her.”
