The holidays are upon us once again and San Francisco offers up several can’t-miss Classical music events to celebrate the season.

Whether you are looking for the elegant depth of a choral arrangement or if the symphony is more your style, there are plenty of Classical music events and venues to put you in a festive mood.

Chorus

  • California Bach Society

Featuring traditional Christmas music from the Baltic region and Poland, this chorus led by Paul Flight is performing at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in San Francisco, All Saints Episcopal Church in Palo Alto, and at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Berkeley.   • A Chanticleer Christmas

Boasting a wide array of styles from Gregorian Chanting to classic carols, the men’s chorus is performing at a variety of locations around the Bay area between Dec. 10 to Dec. 22. Symphony

  • San Francisco Symphony

Performing Handel’s “Messiah” at Davies Symphony Hall, the San Francisco Symphony with Ragnar Bohlin conducting this classic holiday composition is sure to be a holiday treat. Dec. 14 & 15 at 8p.m. Check www.sfsymphony.org for tickets and future events.

  • California Symphony

For an off-beat holiday special, including “The Composer is Dead” by Lemony Snicket and Nathaniel Stookey, don’t miss the California Symphony at Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. Dec. 23. $42-$72. Audience participation. Tickets available online.
