Imagine Dragons played the Shoreline Amphitheater last night to a packed audience that will most likely remember it as one of their most touching and emotional performance to date. The show started exactly on time with a stage that was filled with more instruments and machines that I had seen in a long time. Fog machines, strobe lights, lasers and lots of drums were also in abundance from small to large kick drums that were strategically placed all over the stage
They kicked off the evening with “I Don’t Know Why,” which included a sort of drum circle that most of the band contributed too. The song, which began with some very emotive vocals by Dan Reynolds, crescendoed into a powerful chorus, which echoed endlessly into the night. It set off a very warm reaction from the audience that was just getting ready to rock the night out in the warm outdoor concert venue.
But then things suddenly took a different turn after when singer Dan Reynolds took the time to address the crowd about the massacre that had just happened the night before in the band’s hometown of Las Vegas. It was a moving speech. One that left the singer almost in tears at times, but one that turned what could have been just another rock show into something unforgettable. He followed it up with a touching performance of “It’s Time,” which sent a message peace and unity, but most of all a much-needed change that needs to happen in this country.
Check out some of our favorite selections from the memorable performance below.
