I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I really think we’re witnessing a new wave of British Invasion in Rock n’ Roll. Tonight’s brilliant performance by The Hunna/The Struts only plays into my theory that the british are coming and that they’re bringing with them some of the finest rock music that we’ve heard in quite some time.

Playing the legendary Fillmore after arriving from their hometown of London, England must be a thrill for The Hunna, but the honor and appreciation didn’t go unrecognized at last night’s sold-out show. “We just met the Struts yesterday. But we know the same people back home,” said lead singer Ryan Potter. “Really, it’s just such an honor to be playing the Fillmore. So many of our legends have played here.”

The Hunna, an English based band made up of Ryan (Vocals/Guitar), Dan (Lead Guitar) and Jermaine (Bass), opened the show ferociously with “You and me,” a song that is currently in rotation on American radio. They followed that up with some more songs off of their LP ‘100,’ and climaxed into what is planned to be their next single “Bonfire.” A sure hit, the chorus of the song is so catchy that it put the audience into a frenzy singing along to it as if they’d written the tune themselves.

In fact most of their songs are so full of hooks that I, for one, left with a few stuck in my head the entire ride home. The Hunna actually like to start with the chorus, then work their way back into the verses when it comes to writing. “There are so many different processes to what we do, but often we’ll start with a chorus, and then we’ll funnel in from there,” said the blonde singer in a press release.

Although The Struts was the headliner this evening, the fact that The Hunnas’ latest LP “100” debuted at #13 on the UK charts and #36 on the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers/New Artist charts, only solifies the notion that these brits are on their way to the top. Their performance was packed with energy, passion and sweat. It’s really only a taste of what’s to come from this band as well as the number of other rock bands coming from a country so rich in musical history .
