MUSIC IN SF TONIGHT: Adam Ant at the Fillmore

in Music News by

Adam Ant is bringing his flamboyant act to San Francisco tonight and will be performing one sold out show at The Fillmore. For those not familiar with the underground legend, he is an English singer and musician who first gained popularity as the lead singer of post-punk group Adam and the Ants. Throughout his career he’s scored 10 UK top ten hits from 1980 to 1983, including three UK No. 1 singles. He has also worked as an actor, appearing in over two dozen films and television episodes from 1985 to 2003.

He’ll be performing cuts from his defining album “Kings of the Wild Frontier,” which was released on November 3, 1980 by CBS Records in the UK and Epic records internationally. It reached No. 1 in the UK Album Chart, and spawned three hit singles: “Kings of the Wild Frontier”, that reached No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart; “Dog Eat Dog”, that reached No. 4; and ‘Antmusic’, that reached No. 2, as well as No. 1 in Australia for five weeks. The album was the UK’s #1 selling album in 1981 (and the 48th best seller in 1980) and won Best British Album at the 1982 Brit Awards.

Music in SF will be at the show and will have a full review tomorrow.

Having released albums under Digital Nations, a label founded by Steve Vai, music critic Louis Raphael has remained deeply connected to the pulse of the San Francisco music scene. Following his tenure as the San Francisco Music Examiner for Examiner.com and AXS.com, he embarked on creating Music in SF® to authentically highlight the vibrant offerings of the city's music scene.
