APG/Atlantic singer-songwriter Molly Kate Kestner caught the attention of the world in 2014, while she was still in high school, when a home video of her original song “His Daughter” went viral on YouTube, reaching over 7 million views in just a few weeks. To date, the song has reached 15 million views on YouTube, 6 million streams and sold more than 120k singles in the USA alone.

After making the move from Minnesota to Los Angeles last year, Kestner has been working on new material for release in 2017. She’s also been writing and recording with other established artists, including Kelly Clarkson. Kestner’s “Good Die Young” was deemed “a soulful anthem” by The Fader upon its release. And Refinery29 called the song, which Kestner wrote the day of Prince’s death, “an edgy, soulful ballad.”

With a discography that includes albums on Digital Nations (a Steve Vai imprint), music critic Louis Raphael has always kept a pulse on the San Francisco music scene. After years as the San Francisco Music Examiner for Examiner.com and AXS.com, he decided to start Music in SF® as a way to showcase what the San Francisco music scene really has to offer.
