Odesza/Sofi Tukker Land at the Greek Theater in Berkeley

The Greek Theater turned into a futuristic electro-fest last night in Berkeley, as it was hosting the uberly successful Odesza and a few friends they brought along for the fantastic voyage.

One of those was Sofi Tukker, a band that’s getting a lot of buzz lately. And for good reason. They’ve come up with a new genre of Brazilian electro-pop, something that I don’t think anyone’s ever heard before.

The Bay Area loves them and the band loves them back. During last night’s performance, they professed their love of performing here multiple times throughout the evening. “We love playing here for you guys!” exclaimed the duo with the funky style.

The energy was contagious and the show so much fun, that at one point Sofi couldn’t help but jump into a part of the audience that had been trying to catch her eye the entire time. “You guys look like so much fun, I’m going to dance with you!” It was the most sincere show of gratitude from a band that owes so much to their fans.

Odesza was next on the bill and as the headliners were graced with a mindblowing stage set filled with lasers, a killer backdrop, and a full drumline to open things up. The set consisted mostly of tracks from their new album “A Moment Apart,” and had the crowd dancing along to every thumping dance beat, ethereal melodies, and stunning visual effects.

At the end of it all, just one word could be used to describe the show…Epic. The energy from the crowd was euphoric and the music timeless. What more could you ask for from a Friday night?
