San Francisco Legendary Venue Cafe Du Nord Set to Re-Open

in Music News by

Cafe Du Nord is set to reopen with an exciting series of shows slated for this Summer. Their calendar kicks off with a relaunch party June 1 featuring Rogue Wave, and Bay Area music fans can expect a full slate of live music, DJ nights, comedy and more in the months ahead.

Café du Nord has a long history as being a beloved venue for Bay Area music fans. The subterranean room will complement the programming Noise Pop has been presenting upstairs at the Swedish American Hall since 2015, and cement the historic building’s role as a hub for the local music and arts community.

“With so many challenges facing the Bay Area arts community, we are happy to help restore an amazing piece of its musical landscape. So many fond memories have been created at Café du Nord and the Swedish, and we hope to inspire much more in the future,” says Kevin Arnold, Founder of Noise Pop.

Shows are already underway at the venue, with a full slate of programming kicking off in June. Some renovations have been made to accommodate live music in the room and continued improvements will happen over the next year. Currently scheduled performers include (in chronological order): Emel Mathlouthi, LA Takedown, Rogue Wave, VHS Collection, Nina Diaz, Bombadil, Avi Buffalo, Fictionist, Slow Dancer, My Jerusalem, Roselit Bone, Meatbodies, Goon, Turtlenecked, The Velveteins, Moon Bounce, The Life and Times, Tobin Sprout, Eagle Rock Gospel Singers, and Ben Ottwell.

The Du Nord food and beverage program will continue to serve favorites from the previous menu, including the Burger Du Nord and bucket of fried chicken; they’ll also be adding new items such as the Woodhouse lobster roll.
