Metric’s Emily Haines Returns with New Video and LP

in New Music by

Metric frontwoman Emily Haines is set to return with a new full-length solo album “Choir of the Mind” to be released on Sept. 15. About the new release, Rolling Stone noted that “[The] ethereal quality of her new material is enhanced by lush, layered vocal passages interwoven with her breathy, gauzy singing.”

The video for the first single off the new album, “Fatal Gift,” can be seen above and is available everywhere.

“Most of the songs on the album came to me out of some recent major changes in my life, and others were composed when my life felt more stable,” said Emily in a press release that went out today. “Of them all, ‘Fatal Gift’ is the song that has lived with me the longest, through many incarnations. This is the right time for the definitive version to be heard. The song embodies for me the undeniable fact that no matter how high I climb, that voice, pulling me back to self-remains self remains. We all pursue symbols of achievement, but utopian material promises are hollow.”
